Property Details of IAS officers should be filed; says Cheif Secretary

Chief Secretary Irai Anbu has ordered all IAS officers who are in service in Tamil Nadu to file property details online by January 31.

This includes all those in service including Secretaries and District Collectors. The order to file property details has been issued under the Indian Civil Servants Act 1968. Sources in the Secretariat said that this is a routine procedure.

There are more than 400 IAS officers in Tamil Nadu. The order copy has been forwarded to all of them. The order also stated that disciplinary action would be taken against IAS officers who did not disclose property details without proper reasons. Property details are advised to be filed online by January 31.

The Chief Secretary has ordered the IAS officers to file immovable and other property details that are registered in their name and the name of their family members.

Not only IAS officers but all government officials, ministers should file their property details. If it comes into practice in future, corruption may reduce in our country.
