Prozone Go Green Marathon makes a wide impact with over 6000 participants

Prozone Mall in Saravanampatti, organised the “PROZONE GO GREEN” MARATHON with the main objectives of raising awareness about nature, promoting tree planting, protecting nature, and eliminating plastic. The marathon was flagged off by Mr. Balakrishnan IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, Mr. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation, and film actor Mr. Santhosh Prathap.

Mr. Balakrishnan in his address said he was happy to see a sea of green warriors and hoped that we all plant more trees and take care of this planet for the future generation. Events like these will help raise awareness and he was all praise for Prozone for organising this event.

Mr. Sivaguru, in his address said they are planting 10,000 trees and since they are doing it at a faster rate they have decided to move it to 15,000 saplings and they are made sure the saplings are independent and will grow to trees. He also congratulated this event for making such an effort to raise awareness for a green cover.

Mr. Vijay Bhatia, in his speech said that the Prozone as a group is a very conscious about Green Cover and making the earth more safe for the next generation. This is an effort to make Coimbatore one of the most green cities in India and the world.

Around 6000 participants, including children, adults, men, women, and differently-abled individuals, from across Tamil Nadu took part in this marathon, divided into four categories. A notable feature was the 1 km run for differently-abled individuals, which generated great enthusiasm among the people. Additionally, the continuous run was divided into 1 km, 5 km, and 10 km segments.

Earlier the event had celebrity fitness trainers got the participants warm up to some excellent foot tapping tunes.

go green marathonAddressing the media on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Santhosh Prathap, the actor said fitness is very important in today’s world and the lifestyle needs such events to keep us going for fitness and this will help us in the long run for individual health also. He was happy to be a part of this event of Prozone Go Green Marathon.

The participants were given a medal, a certificate and  a tree sapling to encourage the tree plantation drive. The total prize money was over 2,50,000 in all across the categories.

The arrangements for the marathon were made by the management of Prozone Mall, the Coimbatore District Athletic Association, and UPTOWN Confetti, led by Mr. Vijay Bhatia, Centre Director of Prozone Mall, Mr. Babu – Finance & Admin,  Mr. Bringston Nathan – Marketing Head, and Mr. Muzzamil – Operations Head.
