PSG College of Arts & Science, a renowned educational institution established in the year 1947 by the PSG Sons & Charities, celebrated its Foundation Day on 11th of August 2023 to recognize and honor the founders who paved the path forward for us On this occasion, the college with pride acknowledged five of its distinguished Alumni who have proved their caliber in various fields.
The event started with the welcome address by Dr.D.Brindha, the Principal of PSG College of Arts & Science in which she stated PSG CAS has evolved from strength to strength, with 53 Undergraduates, 32 Post graduate programmes, one 5 year integrated programme, four Vocational programmes, 3 post gradute diploma programmes and 24 research programmes encompassing various dimensions that together define excellence in education and community enrichment with the student strength of 14000+ and all the activities of the college focus on executing the 3 core values of Social, Environmental and Economic Sustainability.
In his presidential address, Shri.L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG Sons & Charities recalled the motto of the PSG Sons’ & Charities that “Let there be charity, so that others can share the prosperity of my family” – on which the foundation of PSG was laid.

Mr.M.P.Saminathan, (Honourable Minister for Tamil Development, Information and Publicity, High-Level Action plan committee, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam , State of Tamil Nadu)
Mr.M.P. Saminathan expressed his whole hearted gratitude to the college and highlighted upon the relentless service rendered by PSG CAS in imparting the educational requirement of the community. Also, the minister mentioned about the various training and skill development schemes offered by the government of Tamil Nadu for the welfare of the student community.
Dr.P. Alli Rani, Director of Sardar Vallabhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management, Ministry of Textiles, (Government of India)
Dr. P. Alli Rani accepted the honor and thanked the management and teachers. She recollected how the college ambiance imbibed empathy in her for the farmers which later on motivated her to support and upscale around 6 million farmers in her capacity as the Chairman and Managing Director of Cotton Corporation of India.
Dr.K.Kadirvelu, Scientist ‘F’ DEBL, DRDO, DIA-CoE, DRDO-BU Centre for Life Sciences, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
Dr.Kadirvelu accepted the honor by paying tribute and respects to the founders of PSG and his parents. Also, he stated how five years of education and the exposure provided by the college at different industries paved growth in his career. With a sense of pride he recalled the ethics and values inculcated in him by the institution. He concluded by exuding his happiness in associating with PSG CAS in various bodies.
Mr.Anbazhagan Ponnusamy, IAS, Secretary to Government of Chhattisgarh.
Mr.Anbazhagan Ponnusamy began his speech by quoting purananooru and expressed how he valued this award more than any awards he had received so far. He recounted how the teachers supported and guided him in taking up civil services exams. While concluding his speech he stressed upon knowledge being the thumb rule of wealth, and as students, one should always look up for opportunities to learn and observe.
Dr.L.Balaji Saravanan, Superintendent of Police, Thoothukudi District, and the award was bestowed to Dr.L.Balaji Saravanan in absentia as he was indisposed to attend the ceremony.
Dr.S.Chandrasekar, the chief guest, in his address congratulated all the awardees. In his message he foretold that India would be the leader in Quantum science and be the super power in the near future. At the same time, he expressed his deeper sense of concern about preserving the planet and requested all the policy makers to contemplate on how to make the planet ready for the year 2070. He emphasized all our responsibilities to pass on the planet to our next generation in its healthy form and not in its distorted form.
Dr.T. Kannaian, Secretary, PSG College of Arts & Science in his proposal of vote of thanks he expressed vision of all the awardees becoming the ambassadors of PSG CAS to the world.
The programme concluded with the cultural performance of the students of PSG College of Arts & Science. The Event proved to be a euphoric one as the occasion brought together the alumni along with their family members, professors and students.
