PSG Polytechnic College celebrates “FOUNDATION DAY”
The Foundation Day of PSG Polytechnic College was celebrated in the college premises on Friday, September 15th, 2023. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest Mrs. K Thenmozhi Selvi, Project Director – Oceansat 3/3A, U R Rao satellite Center (URSC), Indian space Research Organisation (ISRO), Bangaluru, Shri. L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities, Dr. B. Giriraj, Principal, PSG Polytechnic College, distinguished alumni awardees, Heads of PSG Institutions and other senior alumni of the college.
The foundation day marked the establishment of the first ever private Polytechnic college in Tamil Nadu, 84 years ago, in the early years of the pre independence era. On this day, four of the institute’s distinguished alumni were honoured. The selected alumni were introduced to be the pillars of societal development, who have pursued multidisciplinary research and pushed the boundaries of Science, Technology and Engineering with their scholastic excellence, values of discipline and service.
The ceremony started with a welcome address by Dr. B. Giriraj, Prinicpal, PSG Polytechnic College, followed by Presidential address by the Managing Trustee Shri. L.Gopalakrishnan. Four alumni including Mr. P.Sivalingam, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Lt Col R. Senthil Kumar, Additional Director, Karnataka & Goa NCC Directorate, Ms Lalitha Rao Sahib, Managing Director, Sri Nutricare technologies, and Mr. S.Viswanathan I.A.S, Deputy Chairperson- Chennai Port Authority, Ministry of Ports-shipping and waterways were honoured by the chief guest and the managing trustee.
The Chief Guest for the day, Mrs. K Thenmozhi Selvi shared some pearls of wisdom to the intellects and congratulated the PSG & Sons’ charities for their service to nation for the past 97 years and the institute for their kind gesture in honouring the alumni. The occasion was graced by around 1800 people including alumni, invited guests, students, and faculty members of PSG Tech.
