PSG & Sons Charity 97th Founders Day

The 97th Founders’ Day Celebrations of the PSG & Sons’ Charities was held on 25 Jan, 2023 at PSG IMS & R Auditorium. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Dinesh Singh, a Padma Shri Awardee and former Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi. At the event, alumni from various PSG Institutions were honoured for their excellence in professional career, contributions to society and innovations to the industry.

The distinguished alumni who were awarded include, Dr. K. Sathiyanarayanan, the Secretary and Head master of Mani Higher Secondary School, who did his schooling at PSG Sarvajana Higher Secondary School, Shri K.Arunachalam, Managing Director, Sambandam Mills, an alumni of PSG Polytechnic College, Dr. K. Anand Kumar, Managing Director, Indian Immunologicals Ltd, who did his Bachelors and Masters at PSG College of Arts and Science, Shri K.Annamalai, former IPS Officer and State President, Bharathiya Janata Party, who pursued his Bachelor of Engineering at PSG College of Technology, Mr. Bhargav Sundaram, Chief Executive of Callidai Motor Works and a graduate in Business Management from PSG Institute of Management, Dr.Girish Raj, Dean of MES Academy of Medical Sciences who was a part of the first batch of students at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research and Dr.Rathish Nair, Principal and Chief Nursing Officer at the College of Nursing, AIIMS, an alumnus of PSG College of Nursing.

During his presidential address, Shri L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, recalled the long history of his family actively involving themselves in the service of the society and providing industrial and educational opportunities to the people of this region. The legacy of this institutions will continue to hold great lessons in corporate governance and CSR. SarvaJana the word translating to For All people, incidentally was the first school that the institution started that today has presence across every educational sphere.

The Chief Guest, Dr.Dinesh Singh, during his address said that this land of Tamil Nadu has been instrumental in creating great minds, who have contributed immensely to the society and its advancements and added, there is something special about this land. He said he saw a bright future for our country after his interaction with the kids in the institution early in the day. He also added he feels he can retire happier, because the future is bright for their spirit.

He added that for a country to move forward, its institutions must do well and in this regard, he congratulated PSG institutions for producing such great citizens. He believes that, through its spirit of activity and service, this institution is the embodiment of the line from Rig Veda, “Let noble thoughts come to us from every direction.”

As each of the distinguished alumni took their turn in making their acceptance speech, they all thanked their college and teachers who guided them on the right path and shaped their minds to greatness. For some it was a moment to cherish and some became emotional recollecting the time they walked into the campus to the day they graduated and the way they have kept up with visiting their alumni every year. They all recollected their favourite faculty members and the flooded the audience with memories while some of their classmates had come from far and wide to see the event and share the happiness during the occasion.
