PSGIMSR HOSPITALS, Department of Respiratory Medicine headed by Prof. Dr. R. Karthikeyan MD, (Chest) PhD, and Dr. R. Jayakumar MD (Pulmo), Nodal officer – NTEP, organized a series of activities with the Theme; YES, WE CAN END TB to spread awareness about this disease and to equip healthcare professionals with the latest information and update on how to prevent, diagnose and treat Tuberculosis This event was a reflection of their commitment to eliminate Tuberculosis from the society. The event was held between 21st March 2023 and 24th March 2023 towards World Tuberculosis Day.
One of the key events organized by the Department of Respiratory Medicine was a Continuous Medical Education (CME) on Tuberculosis for Healthcare Professionals. This event provided a platform for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to learn about the latest research on tuberculosis, the most effective diagnostics and treatment methods, how to manage tuberculosis and how effectively the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) works in different settings.
In addition to the CME, a wide range of engaging activities to promote awareness about tuberculosis among the students and public was organised. This included a Doodle Art Competition, where participants showcased their creativity and expressed their thoughts on tuberculosis through art and a Quiz Competition on Tuberculosis, which helped all students and staff members of the institution and encouraged and made them more aware about the disease, its prevention, early detection and cure.
The Poster Presentation Event, where participants created posters highlighted key messages on Tuberculosis.
“YES, WE CAN END TB” was a great way for people to learn more about the disease and how they can take steps to prevent it. In order to make the awareness campaign more impactful, the budding medical students of PSGIMSR and College of Nursing performed a skit to create public awareness. The skit was a powerful performance that showcased the impact of tuberculosis on individuals and communities, and highlighted the importance of taking steps to prevent the spread of the disease.
The staff Members and Students from Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and PSGIMSR has actively participated in all the events to make it a great successful one.
Finally, all participants at the event took an Oath to create awareness on “YES, WE CAN END TB” and work towards eliminating this disease from our society. The pledge was a reflection of the commitment of the institution and hospital. The winners were awarded prizes for all the competitions and participation certificates were given to all the participants who participated in various events.
