Food delivery platform zomato faced strong criticism on Twitter after a customer named Vikash from Tamilnadu, took to the microblogging site to claim that the customer service executive of zomato told him that he “should know Hindi”. He also shared a screenshot of the chat he had with the customer service executive. Reject zomato started trending on Twitter after the customer’s post went viral.
The netizens were not pleased and wrote that if zomato is available in Tamilnadu, they should have hired people who understand the language.
After coming under severe criticism, zomato apologised to the customer. The firm also said that they have terminated the executive from service due to his negligence towards the diverse culture.
Good or bad, read and understand consumer rights and the people should raise their voice whenever it is needed.
