Rotary Club conducts State Level Band Competition at Coimbatore

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore was founded by big stalwarts of Coimbatore. Since its inception in 1944 and has been doing various social welfare works for the community. It also conducts arts and sports competitions to motivate the students.

As a part of its student initiatives, for the last 22 years, it has been successfully conducting a Band Instrumental Competition for school students in the state of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Following this, this year’s band competition was held at the Mani High School ground on Avinashi Road. Band students from 17 schools participated.

Earlier Rotary 3201 District Governor for the year 2024-25 Senior Advocate Rotarian AKS Sundaravadivelu inaugurated the event. The students participated in the competition, dressed in colorful band uniforms, paraded their musical talent, physical strength and discipline in the competition.

Bandmasters of PRS participated as judges and selected the best band. In the competitions held in three categories namely mixed, boys team and girls team, Bishop Francis School in mixed category, Avila Convent in Girls category and Lawrence School in Boys category came first.

It was worth mentioning that Masakkalipalayam Corporation School participated on their own and the kids performed nicely. Rotary has promised good band uniform and musical instruments and a band master to train them properly.

Coimbatore Dist. Collector, Shri Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS graced the valedictory function and distributed trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams. Participation certificates were given to all the Children. Special guest Rtn. AKS Adv. N. Sundaravadivelu honored the first, second and third placed bands with cash prizes and certificates respectively. President Rtn. Vijay, Secretary Rtn. Balasubramaniam, Chairman Rtn. Gunasekharan other Rotary Club executives participated in the event.
