Science 20 summit kicks off at Isha Yoga Centre in coimbatore:

More than 100 delegates from 20 countries participated on the inaugural day of the Science 20 Summit 2023 at the Isha Yoga Centre on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Friday.

The delegates comprised scientists, academicians, experts from various fields and policymakers. The deliberations revolved around the theme ‘Disruptive Science for Innovative and Sustainable Development.’

Co-chair of Science 20 and president of the Indian National Science Academy Ashutosh Sharma delivered the opening address. Director of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, G Rangarajan gave a special address.

During the opening session, members from G20 countries spoke about various aspects of science, including clean energy and universal health.

The delegates also had an interactive session with Isha Yoga founder Sadhguru. In a tweet, Sadhguru said: “It is a privilege to have over 100 delegates at Isha Yoga Centre. Efforts of S20 to approach and explore science for universal holistic health, sustainable development and inclusive economic growth are truly commendable. One Earth, one family and one future- the way forward for humanity”. The city police and the district police made elaborate security arrangements for the members to reach the centre safely.
