To protect the public from natural calamities in Coimbatore, The rural police have formed seven teams of the State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) to rescue people during floods and other natural calamities said District SP Selvanagarathinam.
The northeast monsoon is intensifying in Tamil Nadu. Due to this, the residential areas in various places are pounded. The DGP Sylendra Babu has urged disaster relief troops and police to be ready in Tamil Nadu ahead of the monsoon. In Coimbatore district, the Disaster Relief Force has been divided into 7 teams and is on standby to protect civilians from natural disasters including floods.
Additional DGP Vanniyaperumal has provided the necessary modern equipment to them. Western Zone Police IG Sudhakar and DIG Muthusamy were present. The rescue squad are stationed near flood-prone areas. During any emergency, people can contact the rural police at 94981-81212, 7708100100 and 9498101165.
