South India’s largest Inter-College Fest Kumaraguru’s Yugam 2025 to host 15000+ students from 200+ colleges across India
Yugam, one of South India’s largest inter-college techno-cultural-sports festivals, organized by Kumaraguru Institutions, Coimbatore is back for another exciting season.
Over the last 12 years, ‘Yugam’ has grown from a name to a movement, reaching several hundreds of colleges across Tamil Nadu and bringing thousands of students and an extensive panel of thought leaders, resource persons, NGOs, and entertainers from across South India to Coimbatore.
It has made Coimbatore a hub for youth to discuss on technology, culture, sports, and social themes, fostering knowledge exchange and creative expression, and provides a dynamic platform for engineering and arts students to showcase their talents, engage in thought-provoking conclaves, participate in student-led trade fairs, and enjoy electrifying Pro Shows.
Yugam 2025 is set to take place from March 6 to 8, promising three days of power-packed events that will leave a lasting impact on the youth. Prof. Vijilesh, Dean, KCT, Prof. Sheela Srivastava from the Office of Student Affairs, KCLAS, and student representatives from the organizing team addressed the press and media on Tuesday.
“When Yugam debuted in 2003, it had a modest participation of 2,000 students. In 2024, at its 12th edition, the festival witnessed an incredible turnout of over 12,000 students from 200+ colleges, featuring 105+ events and 45+ workshops, with a total prize pool of Rs.12 lakh. This year, we expect close to 15,000 participants,” said Prof. Vijilesh.
This year’s edition boasts over 100 events tailored for arts and engineering students, including 33 technical competitions, 57 non-technical events, 21 cultural showcases, 21 literary sessions, and 15 arts events. Backed by Kumaraguru Institutions, Yugam 2025 has been allocated a budget of Rs.1.5 crore, with TVS as the co-sponsor and support from Karur Vysya Bank and LGB, Coimbatore. The total prize money has been increased from Rs.12 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh.
Some of the key highlights include the Student Conclave for Climate Change on March 5, the Inspire India Youth Conclave on March 6, and Angadi, a student-led trade fair. Additionally, three exclusive Pro Shows will be held across the three days.
The Student Conclave for Climate Change will provide a platform for students to present innovative solutions in climate-smart agriculture, water conservation, waste management, and clean energy. The most promising ideas will receive a seed fund of Rs. 1 lakh to bring their projects to life.
The Inspire India Youth Conclave will feature over 16 distinguished speakers, including Stanly Johny, International Affairs Editor at The Hindu, renowned film critic Baradwaj Rangan, and Everest summiteer Sangeeta Sindhi Bahl.
Angadi, a vibrant student-led marketplace, will host 30+ stalls run by student entrepreneurs, startups, NGOs, and industry leaders. In addition to food, the fair will feature gaming zones, clothing and accessories stalls, and dedicated sections for visually challenged entrepreneurs.
Since 2018, Yugam has incorporated a strong social responsibility initiative through Socio-Constant, driving meaningful change in society. This year, over 150 student volunteers from Kumaraguru Institutions have partnered with NGOs to empower the differently-abled and elderly. The initiative has already made a difference in the lives of 1,500 people, with activities continuing throughout the festival.
While Yugam is designed to enrich students academically and creatively, its larger vision is to foster positive change in society. Every conclave, competition, and initiative aims to drive innovation and thought leadership, ensuring that the impact extends far beyond the campus
