St. Jude’s Public School and Junior College, Kotagiri celebrated the International Literacy Day – 2023 on September 8 under the guidance of the Chairman, Dr. P.P. Dhanarajan, the Executive Director, Dr. Samjith Dhanarajan and the Principal, Dr. Saro Dhanarajan. The Additional Principal, Mr C. Sivakumar presided over the events of the day.
The day started with a special assembly with Siya of grade VII welcoming the gathering. Through skits and speeches, the students and teachers, reflected on this year’s theme ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies.’ A documentary on Nalanda University and Savitribai Phule, the first woman teacher, were shown to the students. Mrs Surekha in her message highlighted the importance of being literate. The students of grade VIII distributed the handmade posters and the event ended with Prajan of grade VII thanking the gathering.
