Stanes Founders Day Celebrations

The Post-Centennial Diamond Jubilee Founder’s Day Service of Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore was held on Saturday, 3rd December, 2022. The Chief Guest of the day was Mr. Thomas George, Retired Vice Principal, Hebron School, Ooty. The Guests of Honour were Mr G.D. Gopal, Managing Trustee of G.D. Naidu Charities, and Chairman of G.D. Schools, Coimbatore and Mrs. Chandra Gopal, Correspondent, G.D. Schools, Coimbatore. Principal, Mrs. S. Selene Vinodhini welcomed the gathering & introduced the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest in his address spoke on the importance of positive thinking, saying that thoughts run one’s life. We become what we believe. So, we are the sum of our thoughts. We should not become victims of anxious thoughts but dwell in peace that surpasses understanding.

Members of Staff who completed 25 years of dedicated service were awarded the “25 Years’ Service Awards”. Members of the Governing Board were honoured with Special Awards, in recognition of
their service to this great Institution.

‘The Sir Robert Stanes Life Time Achievement Award’ instituted by the Past Students Association, was awarded to one of Stanes Schools most distinguished alumni, Mr. G.D. Gopal, Coimbatore’s most notable and well-respected entrepreneur and educationalist. In his acceptance speech, Mr. G.D. Gopal lauded the Institution and shared fond memories of his father’s association with Sir Robert Stanes, who in his words, was to be considered not only the Founder of Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, but also the Founder of the Industrial City of Coimbatore, as he was instrumental in the
development of a number of industries in Coimbatore.

On the occasion of the Jubilee Celebrations, Staff were also honoured with a Jubilee Gift. The Celebration concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. V. Divakaran, Vice Principal, Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School.
