State-level Chess Tournament held at KPR college in Coimbatore
The 1st KPR State Level Chess Tournament was conducted by KPR Educational Institutions on December 19, 2021.
A total of 310 players from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Madurai, Ranipet, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Nilgiris, Tenkasi and many other districts participated in this tournament. The competitions were held for the Under 9, Under12, Under 15 and 18 age categories.
Ms Muthulakshmi, Director of Physical Education, welcomed the gathering at the award ceremony. Dr M. Akila, Principal, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology awarded trophies and certificates to the winners of the competition.
Mr Vijayaragavan, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Chess Association, Mr InthikabAgam, Vice President, Coimbatore District Chess Association and Dr Sathieesh, Chief International Referee gave away the trophies to the winners.
The top ten winners in each age group in the boys’ category and the first five winners in the girls’ category were awarded trophies and certificates. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr Dhanasekaran, Secretary, Coimbatore District Chess Association.
