On Monday, 18th October, Tamilnadu School Education Department relaxed the upper age limit for recruitment of teachers by 5 years because of the pandemic.
TRB (Teachers Recruitment Board) had established the upper age limit for PG Teachers by 40 & 45 years for general and reserved categories respectively.
Even when the state administration issued an order allowing for 2 years of age relaxation on 13 September, TRB did not relax the age limit. Owing to this there was a wide cry from the aspiring delegates stating their inability to apply for the exams.
On Monday, Kakarla Usha, School Education secretary confirmed the age limit being increased from 40 to 45 for the general category and 45 to 50 for the reserved category, applicable only to new notifications issued till December 31, 2022.
