Tamil Nadu Schools are likely to reopen for some classes in 2022. As per reports, offline lectures are likely to be allowed for classes 6 to 12 from January 3, 2022.
TN Schools recently reported some new COVID-19 cases. With the government being able to control the situation, it has now come to light that offline lectures might resume for students. As per the report, schools are likely to reopen for classes 6 to 12 from January 3, 2022.
Tamil Nadu School students must note that a copy of the official order on school reopening is yet to be received. However, as per media reports, students will be able to go back to their schools and learn in a brick-and-mortar environment soon.
Some reports even suggest that the decision has been taken after a COVID-19 review meeting was held under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. In the meeting, the decision was taken to reopen schools after assessing the learning loss that many students had been facing.
As mentioned before, even though official guidelines on TN Schools reopening are awaited, likely, attendance will not be made compulsory. A major reason for this is that many students in this age group are not yet eligible for vaccination.
Tamil Nadu Schools would still follow COVID-19 safety protocols, even if some students of classes 6 to 12 opt for hybrid mode. Once an official confirmation is received, the government would likely issue new guidelines and SOPs on reopening as well.
It is then that TN Schools would have the liberty to modify these SOPs to suit their needs while ensuring that all students and staff stay safe. There is no other option because the students are facing heavy learning loss.
