The case against the deputy tahsildar
Chinnaraj hails from Nayakkanpalayam near Coimbatore. He approached the Northern Taluka office to purchase the property value certificate. It is alleged that the tahsildar paid Rs 15,000 and the deputy tahsildar Rs 10,000 for a bribe to issue a property value certificate.
In this case the deputy tahsildar Selvam did not come to work for the last 4 days due to corona damage.
At that time, Tashildar Kokila Mani was in the taluka office. Chinnaraj had already lodged a complaint with the Anti-Bribery Police regarding the bribery. Thus the anti-corruption police secretly stood and watched. Tahsildar Kokilamani was caught red-handed while buying a bribe.
The arrested Kokilamani was produced in court and remanded in custody. He was also sacked. In this case, the Anti-Corruption Police conducted an investigation based on the complaint lodged by Chinnaraj.
A case has also been registered against the deputy tahsildar as it was revealed that the deputy tahsildar had demanded Rs. 10,000 from Selvam to issue a certificate of the value of the property. Anti-corruption police said he was also being investigated.
