The devotees descend on Gundam and worship at the Kottur Uchi Mahaliamman Temple
Uchchimakaliamman Temple is located in the Kottur Malayandi town near Pollachi. The Gundam festival is held annually in the month of February at this temple.
Accordingly, this year’s Gundam Festival began with a fast on the 15th. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony on the 23rd. It is followed by special decoration and anointing pujas for the Goddess.
Shakti Kumbasthanam was held on the 1st and devotees brought mangoes and flowers to the temple from morning till evening on the 2nd. Goddess Tirukkalyanam was held at 11 pm and Kundam flower growing ceremony was held at 8 pm.
This was followed by the Gundam landing of the devotees. For this, a 57 feet long bomb was set up. The temple priest at Kundam first rolled the badminton. Following this, the devotees descended on Kundam and worshiped.
Then the devotees chanted the slogan ‘Thaye Magali’ with devotional ecstasy. A large number of devotees attended and saw the Goddess. Kottur police were on security duty for the Gundam festival.
