The first school of Coimbatore celebrates its 190th Anniversary

“We are not born to any caste rather we are born to achieve,” said Trichy East MLA Inigo Irudayaraj at the 190th-anniversary celebrations of CSI Boys’ High School in Coimbatore. MLA’s speech was very much received from the audience by huge applause at the function.
Founded in 1831 by the London Mission Society on Variety Hall Road, Coimbatore, the present CSI Boys’ High School is hailed to be the first school in Coimbatore. The school has been in operation for 190 years and its students are in various key positions across the world.
In this context, the 190th anniversary of CSI Boys’ High School was celebrated on the school campus. Headmistress of the school Mercy Matilda welcomed the gathering.
Special invitees for the event were CSI Bishop in Coimbatore Rt. Rev. Timothy Ravinder and Inigo Irudayaraj, MLA of Trichy (East) constituency, who unveiled the memorial inscription for the 190th anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said, “We are not born to any caste rather we are born to achieve,” and it was cheerfully received by the audience including students. He also praised the legacy of the school and the long-standing achievements that are continuing.
Bishop Amma Anne Hemalatha, Executive Secretary of Coimbatore CSI David Barnabas, Treasurer Arthur Sathanandam, Education Coordinator Amritham, Chief Education Officer Geetha, District Education Officer Valliyammal, Assistant HM David Baskaran, Correspondent Rev Prince Calvin and many others including teachers, staff and students were present.
CNI representatives Alwyn, Vinod and Joseph along with others participated in the event. Kudos to the management who run the school successfully for 190 years and made end number students as good persons to the society.
