The flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Koniyamman Temple
The famous Koniyamman Temple Election Festival in Coimbatore is scheduled to be held on March 2. The festival started with the planting of Mukurthakal on the 14th. Special anointings and decorations were made for Goniamman last night. In turn Goniamman blessed the devotees in the garb of gold armor.
The flag-raising then took place at 7 p.m. Special pujas were held for the previously decorated Koniamman. A fire pole planting ceremony was held in front of the temple.
Agni Kambam was planted at the decorated Koniyamman temple to the accompaniment of instrumental music. Then the Koniyamman Street Walk was held. Crowds of devotees attended the flag hoisting ceremony and visited Koniyamman..
