Coimbatore District Food Security Department Designated Officer Dr. Tamilchelvan led a team of 7 officers at the railway station,
They inspected a total of 353 shops including hotels, bakeries, grocery stores and box stores in various places including Tiruchi Road, Avinashi Road, Mettupalayam Road, Satyamangalam Road, Gandhipuram, Singanallur, Peelamedu, Ganapathy, RS Puram.
Of this, 1,672 liters of expired soft drinks worth Rs 61,995 were found from 64 shops. It was confiscated by the authorities and immediately destroyed. They also seized 312 kg of expired food items worth Rs 86,830 from 42 shops. A total of Rs. 1 lakh 48 thousand 825 worth of expired food items were confiscated and destroyed in that manner..
