The Valparai area of Coimbatore district is experiencing severe sunstroke. Due to the drought, the wild elephants and wildebeests have left the forest in search of water and food and are roaming the tea plantations. More and more wild elephants, which had been roaming the herd, began to gather.
This herd of elephants is on its way to the Kerala jungle. It is not possible to predict which way the wild elephants will come to the estate area and when. The forest department has warned the public not to go to the tea plantation or forest area to collect firewood.
The forest department said: – In Valparai, the public goes to the forest and the tea plantation area to collect firewood. When carrying firewood, wildlife such as wild elephants and wildebeests will not be able to move quickly if they are suddenly confronted. Thus, there is a possibility of an accident.
So estate workers and people from Valparai town do not go to collect firewood. Adherence to this can avoid loss of life. Therefore, the forest department must cooperate. Thus they said.
