Urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on the 19th (Saturday). A total of 48 candidates from various parties including DMK, AIADMK, BJP, DMK and independents are contesting in 15 wards in Kinnathukadavu municipality. Electronic voting machines are used in this election. The serial number of the machines, the name of the candidate and the symbol issued to them were printed on the ballot and the matching ceremony was held at the Kinnathukadavu Municipal Office yesterday.
This was done in the presence of the Returning Officer and the Assistant Returning Officer and the candidates who affixed the printed ballot papers to the electronic voting machines to hear the number of candidates contesting in the respective wards.
All electronic voting machines are then safely placed in a room in the Kinathukadavu Municipality office and the room is ‘sealed’. Currently, the room is previously guarded by police 24 hours a day.
