The town hall in Pollachi is preparing for the meeting
Voting took place for the urban local elections. At the end of the polls, the DMK won 30 wards in Pollachi municipality and its ally MDMK won one ward.
With this, the DMK re-elected Pollachi municipality. The ward councillors who won the election are due to assume office on the 2nd of next month. They will elect the mayor and deputy mayor by indirect election. The by-election will be held at the municipal office on the 4th of that month.
At this stage, the work of preparing the Municipal Council is in progress. The council meeting is to be held in the new building once the chairman and vice-chairman are elected. Municipal officials said: -Pollachi Municipal Office has been operating in the new building for the last 2 years. The mayor’s room and auditorium remained unused as officers moved into the new building.
Meanwhile, ward councillors have now won the urban local elections. Following this, the staff is engaged in the work of preparing the Municipal Council meeting hall.
