Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) holds seven days National Service Scheme Special Camp for the year 2017 from 22nd July to 28th July in the adopted villages viz., Muthugoundanur, Sattakalpudhur, Veerapagoundanur of Sokkanur Panchayat.
Environmental Protection Measures
As a part of this camp a rally was conducted on 22-7-2017 Saturday at Muthugoundanur village on Environmental Protection measures. Awareness on plastic eradication and ill effects due to the plastic burning was created among the general public in Sokkanur village by the 2nd year NSS Volunteers of TNAU.
Tree Planting
NSS volunteers of TNAU cleaned the area around the Government higher secondary School, Muthugoundanur and planted the different types of saplings on 23-7-2017 and also created awareness on tree plantings.
Handcraft Training to Women and Childrens
Another group of NSS volunteers from TNAU conducted a demonstration on making of handcrafts to women and children of Muthugoundanur village on 23-7-2017, in which the commoners of the village actively participated and benefited. The event was a good success and it helped people to learn a new skill which would obviously improve the lifestyle and economy of the families.
Rally on Rain Water Conservation and Women’s Hygeine
A rally intended to spread awareness about conservation of rain water and women’s hygiene was organized at Muthugoundanur on 23-7-2017. This would have made people realize the quintessential nature of conservation of natural resources available around them.
