On behalf of Tamil Nadu Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Coimbatore Agricultural University, training was given to agricultural field workers at Azhiyar Coconut Research Station on identifying symptoms of Kerala root rot disease in coconut and evaluating its severity.
Coimbatore Agriculture Associate Director Muthulakshmi presided over this. Deputy Director Venkatachalam, Punitha and Vijayakalpana took the lead. While speaking, Associate Professor Latha, Azhiyaru Coconut Research Institute, explained the methods of detecting early stages of Kerala root rot disease using new technology, balanced fertilizer management, proper irrigation water management, root growth, biomass application.
130 officers including Assistant Directors, Agricultural Officers, Deputy Agricultural Officers, Assistant Agricultural Officers of all Regional Agricultural Extension Centers in Coimbatore district have participated in the survey work on Kerala root rot disease in coconut.
