Two Day Exhibition on Environmental NGOs at Brookefields Mall.

Coimbatore: The city corporation organised a two-day exhibition at the Brookefields mall to create awareness on issues pertaining to environmental pollution along with Brookefield Mall. A total of 14 stalls showcasing products that can be used as alternatives for materials which cause damage to the environment, have been set up by various NGOs.

Corporation commissioner M Prathap inaugurated the exhibition on Saturday, where NGOs including Siruthuli, RAAC and Cube displayed their work in contributing towards environmental protection. Coimbatore Smart City limited and Tamil Nadu Startup Mission have also put up stalls at the exhibition.

The commissioner said the exhibition is being organised as part of world environment day celebrations. The stalls focus on sensitising people on the environmental issues caused by plastic, recycling and reuse of materials, segregation of waste at the source level and safe disposal of waste. He urged residents to take part in measures to bring down pollution. He added, visitors can participate in various competitions like quiz, ladder and snake.

The highlight of the event was how an NGO Siruthuli changed the face of the river Noyyal literally and also the way people looked at the transformation making it a truly people’s movement.
