The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) team of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted a programme of donation and erection of solar lights; solid waste management-distribution of dust bins for segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes; and renovation of the government school at Rasipalayam village on February 21, 2023. Dr. M. Akila, principal of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, educated the audience on the importance of waste segregation for societal well-being.
The chief guest, Dr. E. Somasundram, UBA’s regional coordinator, TNAU, Coimbatore, gave a brief idea of the various avenues to serve the villages.
He gave a disquisition of the different types of work done by our institute and also motivated the faculty and student volunteers to work and develop the villages adopted by KPRIET and to work on more to uplift their standard of living. Solar lamps were distributed and erected in and around Rasipalayam village as per their requirements.
The NSS volunteers renovated their Govt. primary and nursery school as a part of the programme. The school students and the local villagers were given the awareness on the waste materials on what is biodegradable and non-biodegradable, so that the hazardous effects of the plastics on soil and our environment can be reduced. The natives were overwhelmed by the volunteering activities and their kind service of the volunteers. They have expressed their hearty gratitude through their words and blessed the students with goodness.
