The UYIR Road Safety Hackathon 2025, a pioneering initiative designed to drive innovative and practical solutions for road safety challenges, is scheduled to take place on 8th and 9th of February 2025 at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET). The event is being organized in partnership with UYIR, a committed Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) striving to create an accident-free society through meaningful road safety initiatives in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu, to enhance road safety through Information, Education and Communication.
This hackathon aims to inspire participants to develop simple, cost-effective and rapidly implementable solutions to address road safety concerns. With a total prize pool of ₹6.50 lakhs, the competition is divided into two categories: Students and Professionals. Participants will work on ideas and prototypes that can contribute to Coimbatore Road Safety Model City Project, an initiative being implemented by UYIR in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu to improve road safety through Information, Education and Communication (IEC).
The Chief Guest of the event Thiru. Kranthi Kumar Pati, I.A.S., District Collector, Coimbatore witnessed an inspiring display of innovation and technology-driven solutions as esteemed dignitaries explored the participants’ groundbreaking projects aimed at transforming road safety!
Throughout the hackathon, teams will develop solutions based on key themes such as AI-driven innovations, gamified safety education, traffic management, inclusive mobility and smart vehicle safety systems.

K.Karthikeyan, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, Thiru. M.Sivaguru Prabakaran, I.A.S., Commissioner Coimbatore Corporation, Thiru. N.Azhagarasu, Joint Transport Commissioner, Coimbatore Zone are the Guests of Honour.
Thiru. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman, Uyir, Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Managing Trustee, Uyir, Smt. S. Malarvizhi, Trustee, Uyir Project Incharge, Hackathon, Chairperson and Managing Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions will also be present during the Hackathon.
A panel of esteemed judges from various reputed organizations evaluate the projects based on innovation, feasibility and real-world impact. The top three teams will be awarded cash prizes, certificates and potential opportunities for industry
