Dr Ka.Madeswaran, Managing Trustee, Uyirin Suvasam Foundation; Founder Chairman, Royal Care Hospital, said “ Our mission of 10 million trees in the next 100 months is not just about planting, but to create a sustainable ecosystem for the current and future generations. Just imagine the positive impact our mission will have on the environment”.
He further added, “For us, planting saplings is just a starting point. Our end goal is to maintain them until they reach maturity and considered fully grown. We have distributed free saplings of native trees of timber species and fruit trees to the farmers. These trees will further enhance the farmer’s livelihood. The foundation has successfully planted and is maintaining more than 42 lakhs of saplings since its inception across Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur districts in Tamil Nadu. We are aiming to touch the 100mn mark by 2030”
The foundation has planted 8 lakh saplings this year alone, of which 1.5 lakhs were planted as a part of a mega drive to celebrate “Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” on 15 th August 2022. All the plantation drive is executed under the purview of a team of experts constituted by the foundation. Furthermore, the team works with various stakeholders like farmers, students, private campuses, and other institutions to
ensure proper care and maintenance of the saplings. The foundation runs 14 nurseries in Coimbatore to support this initiative. The Royal Care hospital campus in Neelambur, Coimbatore, accommodates one of the largest nurseries in the city.
