To create awareness about para sports, a marathon competition is happening (August 20) at Goundampalayam.
The ‘4th Run Bar Wheels’ marathon is organized by Chituli Foundation and Ganga Hospital at Ganga Spinal Fracture Rehabilitation Center, Goundampalayam. More than 500 people including general category and differently abled people are going to participate in this. The marathon is held in three categories namely 3km, 5km and 10km. As a part of this, a cash prize is given to honor the 32 sportsmen and women from Tamil Nadu who have won medals in the national level competition for the differently abled.
In this regard, Ganga Hospital Director Rajasekaran said, “We are planning to start a sports academy for the disabled. The work will be started soon,” he said. Chituli founder Gunasekaran said, “In order to honor the achievements of people with disabilities, cash prizes will be given to 32 athletes who have won medals in the national competition.”
