Will the IPL auction be postponed? What is the status of the new teams?

A total of 10 teams will be playing in IPL 2022 this year. Therefore, preparations for it are in full swing. The BCCI has completed bidding for two new teams and the new teams of Lucknow and Ahmedabad have joined the IPL. The next phase of the IPL 2022 mega auction is scheduled to take place in February next month.

So, 10 team owners from Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow and Ahmedabad are participating in the auction. Each team will receive a total of Up to Rs 90 crore that can be used in the auction.

So far, all the old 8 team owners have retained a total of 27 players on their team. There are 19 Indian players and 8 foreign players. All older teams were allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players on their team. It can have a maximum of 3 domestic players and a maximum of 2 foreign players.

According to the latest information, the IPL 2022 auction is scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. The auction is scheduled to take place over two days, similar to the 2018 mega-auction. Earlier the mega auction was expected to take place in the first or second week of January, however, the date was extended to February.
