I am very glad to participate in the graduation day and deliver the graduation day address. I am very glad to participate in the graduation day of one of the renowned institutions of higher learning and research in Tamil Nadu. The college has a glorious history of 60 years, contributing immensely to the cause of women’s education. The very utterance of the name of this college will evoke in the mind of the listener a great institution providing standard education to women. Offering of 36 undergraduate programs and 17 postgraduate programs and 13 Doctoral programs to the synth of 8,500 speaks of the enormous work undertaken by the institution with the help of 425 students. I learned that the college provides technology-enabled conducive learning environment with a central instrumentation facility, a food quality testing lab and two modern libraries.

It has been recognized as a nodal training institute under the Agri Clinics and Agri Business Centres programs launched by the Government of India. I am really glad to note that the college has been recognized as a nodal training institute under the Agri Clinics and Agri Business Centres programs launched by the Government of India.

The scholarly faculty members have been doing project works with the help of the funding agencies such as DSP, Indo-Russian Bilateral Collaboration, DBT, ICSSR, SEV, DRDO, DSIR and the World Academy of Science. It speaks of the quality of the faculty. The point to be noted here is that the management encourages deserving researchers by giving seed money. The DST-sponsored rural women technology park functioning in the college helps in empowering the women of underprivileged classes. It deserves praise. I learned that the college needs one more campus for extending its excellent academic and outreach activities. I wish that it happens soon, benefiting people of this region.

Today I am happily here in your midst in the great institution that has been conferred with the College of Excellence Status and ranked fourth among the colleges in India in NIRF ranking. The students of this college are really fortunate to get their education in this great institution. If women are educated, they can be equally successful like men in any field. Women indeed are born to achieve something great in their lives. Education will help them not only in their careers but also in leading a fruitful family life which is very very important for them.

Unlike in the past, now women are encouraged to pursue higher education and the current society even demands it. It is a well acknowledged fact that when girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous.

Poet Bharati’s inspiring words in the earlier part of the 20th century paved the way for giving important to women’s education in Tamil Nadu.

Our Honourable President of India, Madam Draupadi Murmukh, recently said that the government has been working to remove all barriers for education and careers of daughters. She said that women’s empowerment and gender equality are no longer mere slogans, as we have made great progress towards these ideals in recent years. During her visit to various states and education institutions and while meeting delegations of various professionals, our Honourable President of India was amazed by the confidence of women and stated that she has no doubt in her mind that women are the ones who will do the most for shaping tomorrow’s India. The prime goal of our country is to ensure that women’s empowerment and gender equality are ensured.

The aim of our education is to create men and women capable of doing something new, not simply repeating what other generations have done. The very fact that this college has served the cause of education for 60 years speaks of its utility to the people of this region.

The beneficiaries have been students, hailing from all classes of people. The members of the managing board continue the noble tradition of the college in maintaining the good standards of the institutions managed by them. It is well said that Education is the passport to the future, or tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Education is not only a ladder of opportunity, but it is also an investment in our future. Education is the most important tool to survive in this world and it is a necessity as it provides solutions to all the problems. Education is a must-have for the future of our society. mighty force that could lead the youth to lead a life of values, utility, and services as advocated by great philosophers and educationalists. While preserving and propagating the rich tradition and culture of our nation, the youth should cultivate values such as commitment, dedication, and devotion to work.

The purpose of education is to produce physically strong, mentally strong, and emotionally stable and socially adjustable citizens. Education is not simply meant for employment. It is meant to empower, enlighten, widen the perspective of the learners, and develop them into global citizens.

Dear graduates, you are on the threshold of a new life. As you step out into the bigger world, take an oath to work for the good of the society and our nation. My dear graduates, your parents, by their great sacrifice, have enabled you to become graduates, they gave everything to you to make you a graduate, and hence it is an apt time to show your gratitude to them.

You must reciprocate their unconditional love showered on you through your services to them. A good and fruitful relationship between a worth teacher and his disciple helps him attain a better perspective of the subjects and wisdom beyond what may be attained by the students.

The teacher should have faith, rich experience, and accomplishments by which he can set an example for his students and convey to them the insights born of his or her experience and mastery, and students, for their part, should be obedient to the teacher and willing to receive the knowledge. Plato, Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Swami Vivekananda, are example of this tradition. Kabir Das once said,
If God and my teacher appear in person, I will first bow my head to my teacher, because it is he who showed me the God.

Your education and higher degree will open enormous opportunities for you in this vast world, provided you cleanly look for them. I would also like to congratulate the learned faculty who have worked hard with the students and enriched them with a wealth of knowledge, skills, technologies, and moral values to make them capable of serving the society and humanity at large.

Dear Graduates, For you, I quote Albert Einstein, Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think. Education is the anchor sheet of progress in every society, in every family, and it helps one to lead a life in harmony with all existing things. One has to approach, enquire, engage, exchange, and observe. Let me dwell on the steps for the successful Endeavour, goal setting is the first step in the lengthy process of achievement in human life. After the goal setting, the youth should develop in themselves the positive ideal of self-confidence and have faith in the dictum, I can win, without an iota of doubt. And then they have to nurture deeply the goal. They have to see the idea that hard work and perseverance alone can bring success in any walk of life. Unstinted action that follows the decision is the most significant aspect of this process. To survive and succeed in the competitive world, the young people should acquire various skills such as computer skills and communication skills, leadership skills and teamwork skills, and adaptability are other things to be learned at a young age for registering progress in life and career.

Since independence, the higher education scenario in India presents an interesting example of a material rise in the number of institutions as well as in enrolment of the students. There were only 20 universities and 500 colleges, with 0.1 million students at the time India attained independence. This has increased to 1,026 universities, including institutions ofît Award Class around 45,000 colleges. The gross enrollment ratio in higher education in the country is 27.1%, and the GER in Tamil Nadu is 51.4%. This is only because of the women’s education in Tamil Nadu. The GER in Tamil Nadu is more than double the national average. Tamil Nadu has been making rapid strides in higher education.

Dear new graduates, India is emerging as a great power in every sphere, and time is not far away when it will become a superpower. As a well-educated person, your concern for the society makes the nation a better place to live in. Share some of your valuable time with people who may need your services, and by servicing them, spread human goodness. Learn to live in harmony with society, around you, and contribute to environmental protection.

Dear graduates, you need to have certain goals in your life. You must dream. First, conceive an idea which is really your dream. Believe in it, and go after it. You will definitely realize your dreams. If you can conceive the dream in your mind, plant it in your heart, and water it daily, then it will grow and become a tree. As young graduates, you may have many choices. You may opt for entrepreneurship as the central and state governments encourage startups by offering many facilities. This growing startup ecosystem in India is a boon for motivated youth. Some of you may like to become employees in well-paid private sector companies, and some may opt for government services. Civil service exams and other competitive exams provide many opportunities for those graduating from the government.

Some of you may have passion for research. Research is a vast domain, and now great emphasis is laid on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research for solving global challenges and problems that impact human life. Innovative and holistic approach, focused and concentrated attention, and creativity are the essential qualities to be nurtured by the researcher. With a burden of pride, I would like to tell you that I could publish nearly 450 research articles within a very short span of time, that is within 15 years, and I could visit 23 countries in connection with my research. My approach never dissipated from my objective. It is here I would like to emphasize the importance of health and physical fitness for a successful life and career. Most of the young people, suffer today from screen addiction, a new sickness of the modern times. Be pragmatic and avoid screen addiction. Without sound health and physical fitness, nothing significant could be accomplished in life. This should be remembered as a mantra for everyday incantation, and hours should be devoted to physical exercise, yoga and meditation practice, or else for a brisk long walk. This must be done as an everyday sacred duty, and its importance should go into your consciousness.

This practice will help you to do your work energetically and enthusiastically for long hours, bringing you great success. This I tell you from my personal experience. It is the bounded duty of the graduates to stay connected with their alma mater and help for its development. It is a real reciprocation of gratitude to the institution which nurtured your talents. So with these words, I conclude my address, and I wish you all the best in your life and career. Thank you very much.
